SIDE NOTE - H has a running analysis around the screen. A set of screen captures with H's commentary can be found here. The transcript is just of Emily and Charles's conversation.

Conde: Should be fun.

Emily: I don't know I’ve only been coding for about two months so I'm not very good at it.

Conde: Don’t worry. Let’s just start from the beginning, lesson 1.

Emily: Okay, but don’t help me. I want to do this myself. Wait. Is that an actual keyboard that I hear?

Conde: Uh, yes.

Emily: Who types anymore?

Conde: I do. I just like having the feedback, the keys clicking. Otherwise, I can’t tell if it’s writing what I want it to unless I look.

Emily: Wow, trust issues much…sorry.

Conde: No, you’re right. I have a hard time trusting people. I’ve always been so hands-on with every aspect of running my companies; it's just so hard to find the right kind of partner that you can trust completely.

Emily: Hm…I see. Oh! I finished the first section.

Conde: Wow, you’re really fast and, you were talking too!

Emily: Well, women are better multitasking. Oh! The next one we get to use colors.

Conde: Oh…

Emily: What?

Conde: I can’t do that.

Emily: What do you mean?

Conde: I really can’t do this lesson. I’m colorblind.

Emily: You can’t see colors?

Conde: They’re mostly grey brown to me.

Emily: Oh, that’s why you wear so much black and grey all the time.

Conde: It’s convenient. Okay well, I’ll let you finish your lesson and we can talk again tomorrow.

Emily: Wait! Um…we could do it together? I could describe the colors and then we could both keep coding.

Conde: Really?

Emily: Yeah…okay? Um, so the first clock is green and we have to move it to the left. It’s a really pretty shade of green. It’s like cool grass on your feet on a warm summer day. We got it moving! Okay the next block is blue. Light blue, like the last rays of sunset hitting your skin. Okay, now you’re just showing off making it dance!

Conde: Do you always connect colors with your feelings?

Emily: Yeah, I have synesthesia.

Conde: Oh, I’ve heard of that. It’s where you connect one sensation with another.

Emily: Mhm! So for me, it’s colors with really strong emotions or, numbers with emotions and colors.

Conde: You are absolutely amazing.

Emily: Um… so the last block is red. Bright red with hints of orange…like, kissing someone that you really really really like.

Conde: Sounds like an amazing color, I’d love to feel it.

Emily: Well…maybe one day I could help you with that. H, if you’re watching this, go to bed now.
